Swum started because the team I coached needed a better way to schedule lessons.

After my competitive swimming career culminated at the University of Notre Dame, I came home and started coaching my summer swim team. With more than 140 families, I saw how difficult it was to schedule private lessons with the tools available. Nothing felt simple or mobile-friendly. Because I knew how to code, I decided to build the tool I wished we had.

How it started

I built the first version for the team I was coaching.

Families needed an easier way to book lessons from their phones, and coaches needed something simple to manage. I started coding Swum to solve that exact problem for our team, then kept improving it around how people actually used it.

  2. 02
    Back to coaching

I returned to coach my summer team, which served more than 140 families.

  3. 03
    I saw the problem

The lesson scheduling options were clunky, desktop-first, and difficult for families to use.

  4. 04
    I built Swum

I coded a simpler, mobile-friendly tool for our team. That first version eventually grew into a multi-platform product for swim schools.

One enterprise layer for every swim school location.

Swum Enterprise gives large swim lesson organizations local control at each school and a global operating view across the full network. Each location can manage its own instructors, classes, calendars, and families while leadership sees analytics, reporting, and integrations in one place.

Pick the location model that fits the size of the rollout.

Swum Enterprise can support a simple multi-location school setup, but larger organizations usually need each location treated as its own school under a company layer. That structure supports bigger footprints, cleaner permissions, and company-level analytics.

Option A: one school, many sitesOption B: school per locationCompany analyticsTraveling instructorsLocation rules
Option AMax of 5 locations

Best for smaller operators where one school manages a few pools or partner sites. It keeps setup simple, but does not unlock the full company analytics layer.

Option BUnlimited locations

Recommended for enterprise. Each location has its own school account while leadership gets global analytics, location comparisons, and custom API/reporting feeds.

Create classes in bulk, then roll them forward.

Swum can turn one class setup into a full day, a custom date range, or the next seasonal schedule. Teams can bulk-create timeslots, preserve the structure that already works, and roll 500+ classes from summer to fall without rebuilding everything by hand.

Family intent peaks after the front desk closes.

Across 6,800+ real parent checkouts on Swum, 7 PM is the number-one booking hour and 47% of bookings happen outside 9–5. The opportunity is to shorten the path from interest to booked and paid—without requiring a phone call or in-person handoff.

Data should trigger the next best action—not sit in a report.

Swum can give Goldfish an AI-forward automation layer that identifies demand, reduces repetitive work, recommends follow-up, and helps teams act earlier. Goldfish defines the policies and approvals; the system handles the repeatable work and keeps learning from outcomes.

AI-forwardHuman-controlledDemand signalsAutomated follow-upRetention insights
Data + automationObserve. Recommend. Automate. Learn.

AI supports the next best action while Goldfish teams retain control of policy, approval, and customer judgment.

ObserveSee demand as it forms

Understand search, availability, enrollment, waitlist, cancellation, and program behavior across locations.

RecommendSurface the next best action

Flag where a family needs help, a class can fill, a lead is cooling, or a location is missing demand.

AutomateHandle the repeatable work

Trigger approved reminders, follow-up, waitlist offers, re-enrollment prompts, and internal alerts.

LearnImprove every cycle

Measure what converted and retained families, then use that evidence to improve global and local workflows.
