Hi! I am Coach Lou (Alexa Lou Olson) of Swim Gym Utah. With over a decade of coaching experience, I specialize in helping children become confident, capable, and safe swimmers. My journey began at 15 years old, and I am deeply dedicated to building water safety, grit, resilience, and true self-trust in every child I teach.

Group lessons are a fantastic environment for building confidence and social skills while learning alongside peers. My teaching philosophy is rooted in honesty, empathy, and structure, allowing me to meet each child exactly where they are. I adapt my instruction to the swimmer rather than forcing progress on a strict timeline. I rely heavily on a "foundations first" approach—mastering calm breath control and body position as the true foundation of strong swimming.

I excel at reading different learning styles, building trust with fearful or anxious swimmers, and creating a supportive space where kids feel secure. By keeping lessons structured, I can perfectly balance gentle encouragement with accountability.

Whether your child is a beginner or looking to refine their technique, my goal is to help them feel calm, confident, and capable. I adjust my cues and strategies in real-time to ensure every student succeeds. Let’s build a lifelong love of the water!
